This is not your everyday dog event. It pits man’s (woman’s) best friend against the clock in an entertaining event filled with camaraderie and laughter. This has historically been one of the most well attended events by spectators and participants alike. It’s not surprising considering the venue. The Lyons Valley River Park Ponds look out onto the lush Saint Vrain river and Steamboat Mountain. There really is no better place to be than with your buddy chill-axin pond-side as dogs fly into the pond and strut their swimming skills. All dogs are welcome, come on down and enjoy the Canine Speed Retrieve!
This event will take place on the Lyons Valley River Park Ponds (eastern most pond). Please be aware that there will be a lot of dogs in attendance and they get very excited being around the launching area. Leashes are mandatory. For the safety of you and your dog, maintain a short leash, 4 feet or less and be very aware of the space around both of you from other handlers and their dogs. Pay attention to how your dog is reacting to all of the excitement and handle them appropriately. Abusive behavior is not permitted. Please be respectful of the homeowners surrounding the pond.
Please park on either end of McConnell – just passed the bridge or passed the houses on the pond side. Access to the jumping area is via the public trail running along the pond behind the houses. Please do not cut through private property to access the event.
