The Canine Cannonball is an exciting activity for you and your dog. Dogs of all shapes, age and sizes compete by hurling themselves off the Lyons Outdoor Games “Rock Dock” into the Lyons Valley River Park Ponds (Easternmost pond). The dogs are judged on 3 categories: distance, style and splash.
Remember that “dock jumping” is a dog event. There will be a lot of dogs in attendance and they get very excited being around the Rock Dock jumping area. Leashes are mandatory. For the safety of you and your dog, maintain a short leash, 4 feet or less and be very aware of the space around both of you from other handlers and their dogs. Pay attention to how your dog is reacting to all of the excitement and handle them appropriately. Abusive behavior is not permitted. And please be respectful of the homeowners surrounding the pond.
There will be no practice on the day of the event so as to keep the Rock Dock as dry as possible to ensure a safe and competitive environment. Please park on either end of McConnell – just passed the bridge or passed the houses on the pond side. Access to the jumping area is via the public trail running along the pond behind the houses. Please do not cut through private property to access the event.
